We have committed from day one to ensure our business activities are carried out in the most sustainable way possible, whilst striving to have a minimum impact on our environment and be socially responsible.

The initiatives we have in place are detailed below

Carbon Neutral An audit of our business using Climate Friendly™ has allowed us to offset our carbon footprint by purchasing gold standard carbon credits. We continually monitor this to ensure we are offsetting all of our emissions. The money we spend supports new renewable energy projects that prevent as much greenhouse gas from entering our atmosphere as we have released.

Sustainable Produce A careful analysis of our produce has allowed us to assess the sustainability of the menu items we offer. We have been guided by the current Australian sustainable seafood guide as to what we should be saying yes to when offering fish and crustacean dishes to our clients. We use a local baker and fruit and vegetable supplier and 90% of our menu items are made by hand in our North Melbourne kitchen so that we can control all of the ingredients that are used to make our product.

Local Produce Local produce is used where possible, however if an interstate or overseas product is more sustainable, we will choose this product and we have factored into our carbon offset scheme the additional food miles that arise from using such products.

Fleet of Vehicles Our fleet of vans are run using B20 bio-diesel which has 20% less emissions than regular diesel, for our larger events where additional hire vans are used we have calculated the carbon emissions and offset these and purchase additional credits per event.

Green Energy Our hot water is heated using solar power and all additional energy consumption is provided by new green wind power.

Waste Management Separate receptacles for cardboard/paper, general waste and glass/plastic are used to separate our kitchen waste. All disposable product used is either 100% biodegradable or recyclable, event specific waste plans are implemented ensuring maximum recycling and minimum impact on the environment.

Packaging We use a biodegradable wooden box for our everyday delivered catering packaging, this is made for us specifically by CREATIVE OPPORTUNITIES a business enterprise that is part of The Salvation Army.

Their mission is to secure meaningful employment and training opportunities for people with disabilities through the development of a viable and sustainable community business.

They provide employment for 80 people with disabilities, within various operations such as timber manufacturing, assembly and packaging.
